No sound when BCM dials a contact

George

Am using WinXP-pro PC, and Microsoft BCM 2003, with update SP2, version
2.00....

When I use BCM CONTACTS, and click the phone icon (to dial a person), it
does dial/conjnect but I don't hear the touch tones (comgin from the modem)
at all over the PC's speaker.

I have to watch for the word "connected", then pick up the phone that is on
the same line as the modem...when has a red line light that also lights up
when line is "in use".

Is sound shut off (automaticallly)? Can I turn it back on ...with very low
volume so I know when the contact has been made and can pick up the phone
*immediately* to talk.

I already checked the basics, all look good...

Clicked speaker icon in bottom right task back, un-muted everything and
ensured volume is up on all sliders. (By the way, the modem's audio is on
the Wave/MP3 slider.

I already tried looking at audio properties. Only possible problem is I
have 2 speakers and a sub, and the setting is is on 5.1. But I doubt that's
it... other tests show (2 front) speakers working great (just no sound
during tests from the remaining rear speakers and sub).

Already looked at modem properties, didn't see anything wrong there. Also,
when it does a simple "dial-up" connection to internet... works great...
hear the old fashioned touch tones, then whistling sound, then see
"connected".

Would welcome any suggestions, or just knowing if BCM is designed this way
and it can't be changed (is there a link that discusses that?)

Thanks,
George

Does dialing Outlook Contacts behave any differently? I can't imagine
BCM doing anything particular with dialing. I expect BCM lets Outlook
handle that.
