no sound on compaq presario v2000

i installed latest vista 64 bit beta, only drivers not installed are for
modem and sound card. my sound card is conextant realtek ac 97. i installed
latest vista driver from conextant and still no sound. there is an error
message saying device not able to start. any help out there?
