No sound, odd one this

Recently I bought a P4 3.2 800Mhz Pc..I installed a Audiotrak Maya 7.1 Gold
into it..
The drivers were installed and (rightly or not) XP said they were working
properly...but in Sound and Audio Device Properties the Maya wasnt listed at
all...said "No Audio device"..device Volume and speakers greyed out..so I
uninstalled it..and tried installing again...same thing..all greyed out...No
sound from anything apart from winamp. I can play Mp3's by telling winamp to
play them through the maya..speakers work fine card works fine. Sounds
great...but I would like to hear sounds from the net and games etc.
So I took a known working older card (Creative CT4810) out of the old Pc and
put it in the new P4...same thing..Sound and Audio device Properties Greyed
out..says drivers are working..but no sound on anything apart from Winamp..
Oh and the onboard sound doesnt work either..(Disabled in the Bios at the
moment) Could get tunes out of winamp on it though.

Has Anyone any ideas why the Sound and Audio Properties is greyed out..for
both cards I've tried ?

Mark, try a different PCI Slot.

Thank you for your reply, but unfortunately its still the same..I tried both
cards in a different slot..its still greyed out in audio device properties.
