No sound mixer???

I just re-installed Windows XP on my computer, and after booting back
up, I'm not able to hear any sounds. I checked out the "Help and Support" on
my computer but there's no topic for my problem. When I click on the Volume
control, it says, "There are no active mixer devices available. To install
one, go to...so on and so on". The problem is, when I go to install the
un-active device, there doesn't appear to be one.

My computer is a Compaq Presario R3000. If anybody has any advice for me,
I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

You need to load the sound driver provided by the sound card/computer
manufacturer.
If you do not have the CD with the driver, you should be able to get the
driver from the manufacturers website.
