Hello,
I am trying to get the sound to work on the old compaq presario desktop that
has onboard video and audio chipsets and for some reason they don't want to
work on
WindowsXP/SP2 upgrade from Windows95.I have tried many different ways and
different drivers to no avail. Also I used to have on-screen-display for
volume and mute, sleep, etc. but not anymore.Any ideas? Johnny H

What model is the PC?

Go to Compaq's website and download updated drivers to activate the soundcard,
unless you still have the disks that came with the PC. Windows95 drivers
may not work since you upgraded. In addition, you could uninstall the
on-board
soundcard and buy a new one at Circuit City or Best Buy. eBay has many up
for bid starting at $5.00
