I will be in the middle of something and it will just go dead and a little
blue screen comes up and says no signal when there actually is. I have a new
desktop hp pavillion computer and i am using satelite internet connection. I
have checked internet options and they are correct to not shut down after a
certain period of time. I had the same kind of comp before this one for over
7 yrs latest version of xp and never had this kind of trouble. Now i use the
microsoft vista home premium and it just shuts down for no reason. Help
please any kind of suggestions is welcome.

Hi,

Describe "dead":

- The system freezes?
- There is a blue screen with error and it restarts?
- The system shuts off without warning and does or does not go through a
normal logoff?
- The connection dies but other software continues?
- The error message is a function of the software that creates and monitors
the connection?

The "No Signal" error is most likely from your monitor, telling you that it
is no longer getting a video signal from the PC. The reason for that could
be almost anything, from a computer that's shutting down to a faulty
monitor. If this is a new computer, you need to return it for repair or
replacement.

It could also be a bad video cable or a loose video cable connection.

"No signal" means that the monitor isn't receiving a signal from the
computer. The first thing to check is also the simplest: makes sure
that the cable connecting the monitor and computer is securely
fastened. There's a good chance that just tightening it will fix your
problem.
