No response when clicking link

I'm using IE6.0 on an IBM T21 with windows 98. When
browsing the web I frequently get no response when
clicking a new link. No hour glass, no blue bar in bottom
left corner, just nothing happens. After 30 to 60 sec the
new page gets loaded. Any clues why this is happening?

This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)
