no pictures in my e-mails

No sucess. Outlook seems to be managing this wrong. What can I do to fix

Are you inserting a picture into the body of a html email?

Yes.
I can see and send attachments.
When they are posted in the body, all that shows up is the infamous red "X"
I've noticed this a lot with incoming e-mails.
I tried to send one out tonight. I thought it went out ok.
I bcc myself and when it came back, it was just the red x.
When I looked in my sent box to double check what I sent, the red x was
there also.

Which version of Outlook?
First ensure the latest Service Pack for that version is installed.
Where is the image you are inserting located - locally on your hard drive,
on the Web?

Check Internet Explorer is set to display images - it should be.

It is Office XP(SB) with all updated service packs. Using Win XP pro
I thought the image was on my hard drive.
This must be an internet image. It is a picture of a billboard that has a
message that changes (about 10 different messages).
It was an image from an incoming e-mail that I used "copy and paste" to
insert onto a new message.
When I try to save, I only get the option to save as a "*bmp" and I loose
the animation feature.
Another odd thing is it seems this image arrived intact to at least one of
my recipients.

When I try to re-create the problem, it seems to be fixed.
However when I view my original "Sent" and Received" (I bcc myself) message
it still shows the "red x"

I think the problem is the access to where the image is.
If a user can't access the web site where the image is then they won't be
able to see it.
another possible problem is using copy and paste. Instead, use Insert |
Picture | From file and include the full path to the image.
e.g. http://www.mysite.com/mypic.gif

The recipient will need to be online to see the image and will need to allow
external images (if using Outlook 2003) to see it.
Saving as bmp is standard with Outlook. There is code available that can
give you other options.
If you feel safe with code I'll locate it and post it back (when I find it).
