I really need help, i'm trying to reformat because my computer is infected
hardcore!
and I have cleaned up the computer most i can, with a series of scans ( disk
cleanup, cwshredder,ad-aware se,spybot search and destroy, avg free edition,
and registry mechanics) until no more viruses were found, then tryed booting
the xp cd, and when i go through the setup screen, it tells me to select,
create or delete partitions, and no partitions are showing!?!?! and then i
just press enter and it goes to an error screen that had to do with a
setupdd.sys file error, etc.... i'll do it over again to get more specific
information if needed, but can someone please tell me what else to
do???????????? i just want to enjoy my new computer !!!!!!!!!

Well the link you gave me didn't realy help cause i already tryed, and on
step 5 out of the clean install process, my computer doesn't read any
partitions, and i cannot more the arrows up and down to try and select a slot
to create a partition either, the only thing i can do is press enter, and it
then takes me to an error screen, again, on this screen it did say something
about (setupdd.sys)

I followed all the info u gave me and i got this message when i tryed to
install xp,
stop: 0x000007b(0xf8982524,0vc0000034,0x0000000,0x0000000). That was when i
took out some a 512mb stick of ram in order to install like the previous
email you had replied to me. At this point, im not sure if its a virus or
just my computer settings that arent correct.. It also told me to check my
harddrive configuration as well.

thanks
P
