no option to join a domain

I just restored a home compaq computer to the factory default and I don't
see an option to join a domain. Do you actually need to be connected to a
LAN for this option to appear? When I go to My Computer properties I only
see the option to join a workgroup. I'm running xp home edition.

Windows XP Home Edition cannot join a domain. You'd need Windows XP
Professional Edition to do that.
