Hi all,

I have a Windows XP Pro system that I want to setup to
join my corporate domain. However, when I go into the
system properties to join the domain, I am only given the
option to join a workgroup. If there are any suggestions
as to how I can setup the system for a domain, I would
really appreciate hearing them. Thanks in advance!!!

Sincerely,
Chris Z.

Hi, Chris -

If you right-click "My Computer" and select Properties --
Computer Name and then click the button next to 'To
rename this computer or join a domain, click Change' you
should be able to do what you're trying to do.

In order to join the domain the *machine* needs an
account as well as the user.

Good luck -

Hi Allan,

Thank you for the information, but I am only given the
option to join a workgroup, not a domain. Is there a
setting that I am missing? I'm somewhat confused.

Chris

Hi Chris

check if the service "computer browser" is running. On my box sometimes this is not the case (I don't know the reason though) and starting it manually re-enables the "join domain" option
