No operating system found

Help!!!! I think my computer died. I was running scan
disk to check for errors because my computer was doing
some funny things. About half way through the machine
froze up, I finally ended up restarting the computer.
To my dismay, upon reboot I get a one line message, no
operating system found. I tried to use my startup disk
to start, but no such luck. Is there any hope in
recovering files from the hard drive?

If you can't get the drive to work, there are companies
that will recover the data for you. Do a search on yahoo
for Data recovery.

1.) This is an error message returned from your system bios and may indicate
some hardware has failed.

2.) "no such luck" tells us nothing unless there is a slot machine involved.
Accurate details are the precursor to your solution.
