Windows XP No Music

Am using windows XP on ma PC. When i try to play music the windows media player generates the following error: ERROR ID =0X80040256, REMEDY ID=0X00000000. What could be the problem, am using a branded PIII Compaq computer. I bought it with the operating system alredy installed, I do not have the motherboard driver. What should i do ?

Well, do you try to play music with another players? Is there any problem if not you'd better reinstall the windows media player.
