No mouse when I resume from hibernation

Hi, just installed Vista Home Prem yesterday on a Dell D620 (which has an
Alps touchpad). So far the major problem has been everytime I hibernate, when
I resume again the mouse is frozen, and have to restart everytime.

I installed the current Alps vista driver from Dell's site, so not sure if
it's a problem with the driver or Vista, plus having searched around on the
net have not seen anyone with similar problems.

If anyone has any bright ideas TIA

Hello Scott,
I too am having same problem.I purchased one new laptop with windows Vista
Basic. Whne i put my laptop on hibernate and when I resume back later the
mouse pointer freezes, the internet connection is gone and I have to re start
..All my efforts to explain the great techies in DELL is gone with wind as
everytime they will ask what is the problem sir.I am fed up with DELL and
VISTA. I have another laptop of my roomate who has Windows XP and we have not
restarted teh sytem for more than a month and it works with no issues.
If you or any one in the group have nay idea to fix this problem pls let me
know.It will be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, never did really "fix" the problem with the dell drivers - so what I did
to get things working was to do a clean install and just let Vista install
its default mouse driver (i.e. don't use mousepad drivers from dell's site).
Then everything works fine - only thing is you can't use some of the features
the alps driver provides, like scrolling on the pad, etc.... but at least
hibernation works and that was the important thing for me.
