no mouse/keyboard at password window

We added a logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. After
rebooting, when the Windows 2000 password screen came up
neither the keyboard nor mouse worked. So I plugged the
old ones back in - same thing. The start up screen shows
it detects the mouse and keyboard, and I can use the
keyboard in the bood stage and to get into command prompt
(no changes made). I just can't get past the password
screen because there is no mouse. How do I fix this?

The mouse is not required to log in. Hit Tab to advance to PW box.
