No morre than 10 connections ???

I notice that Win2000 has a limit of 10 people to connect a share. This
limit can be set when the folder is shared.

Can anybody tell me whether this limit is per folder or per workstation?
Therefore, If I share another folder, will another 10 machines be able to
access that folder or is W2K limited to just 10 as a whole.

Also, is Win NT Workstation also limited to 10 or was that allowed to share
to more than 10.

What about Windows 98, could that share to more that 10?

The file that needs to be shared is really small and I see no need to
upgrade to Server.

Windows NT WS, 2K Pro WS and XP Pro WS all have a max connection of 10. Be
it printers, shares or whatever. That's 10 total. Not 10 per item.

Don't know anything about '98.

This is a limitation built into Windows NT based operating systems.
Microsoft would rather have you buy the Server edition.

This is NOT a limitation with Windows '98, it doesn't care how many
connections you have. You can buy a cheap Win98 box and put your share on it
for less than you can buy Win2000 Server software.

Linux also works well in this respect, although its kinda alien to most
Windows users and a real bitch to configure.
