No more Internet....

Hi everybody, i need all the masters of network here to explane me what
happen here....
I got a DSL modem, a Linsys BEFSR41 Router, and WinXP. I got 2 computers
connected on the router, with IP 192.168.1.100 and 101, subnet
255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1. One of my computer lost connection. I
checked the IP and it changed for 169.254.1.218, subnet for 255.255.0.0 and
no gateway at all.
It happend to one of my friend too, same configuration..but a cable modem
instead of DSL...
Any idea?
