No Media Option on my Toolbar List

I would like to be able to view video clips on websites with WMP in IE6
without having the main player open. I know IE6 is supposed to have it. I
have checked my View>Toolbars, and there is no Media option there. Is there
anyway I can get it back?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I have always had WMP as my default and had all the
files checked. However, a couple of weeks ago I clicked a video link on the
web page and when it opened (not in the mini as I want but in full), it
froze. I seem to be having trouble opening mpeg and avi links. I have to go
to Task manager to close the application. I have no problem if I use another
player to open those files from a link. I tried rolling back to WMP9 but
still had the same problem. System restores also don't help.

Plus my original problem remains--I can't play a link in my browser, only in
full mode. I remember once being asked if I wanted to open the link in IE but
I said no and I cant reverse it.

With having access to your PC it is difficult how your settings are stored.
Try one more before you start troubleshooting yourself.
Open IE (Internet Explorer)>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab
Scroll down to Multimedia and check all blocks>click Apply and OK
Now try it again. Good luck. :~)

Thanks...after much searching, I found an article in MS that stated that
XPSP2 no longer has the media button available. Now I just have to figure out
why my player can no longer play mpeg files from the web. It has been my
default player for a long time but this just started happening...computers
can be a pain..

If it "just" started happening, have you tried a system Restore?
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

I have tried system restore(numerous restores-going back several weeks),and
rolling back to version 9. Still the same problem. I have also completely
uninstalled it and removed registry entries, then reinstalled it. Same
problem.
