no label on icons

In windows explorer, when I have the thumbnail option for displaying drives,
no writing is displayed to tell me what each drive/folder is. Also, when
trying to arrange icons by type, they are no longer grouped with the
separators. I've tried a few things, but my XP skills are obviously lacking.
Any ideas on how to correct these would be appreciated. Thanks

To restore the drive labels, change the view to Icons and then
while holding down the Shift key, change the view back to
Thumbnails.

As for the grouping issue, right click an open spot in and
Explorer window. Under Arrange Icons by, make sure Type and
Show in Groups are selected.
