No Internetconnection after sleep mode

Hi,
By accident I pressed the sleep button on my keyboard, the computer got in
standby mode. I pressed a key and the computer woke up again. After that I
could not make any connection to the internet. No problem with getting and
sending e-mail. I rebooted the computer a few times, rebooted the ADSL modem,
installed the network card again and reapplied network settings. But nothing
seems to help. I changed the internet connection to another network card in
my computer and happily Internet Explorer was back on the Internet. Firefox
still can not make any connection to the Internet. Then suddenly a blue
screen and the computer rebooted to avoid damage. It is now working again.

About one year ago I had the same problem after putting the computer to
sleep mode. There was no connection possible with the Internet or my home
network. It cost me a whole lot of time and frustrations to let it all work
again but I still don't understand what I did to make it work.

I'm never going to touch that damn button again.

Is there anyone who knows how to deal with this problem? What has caused this?

Not me I'm afraid. I just wanted to know where the sleep button is! I've
yet to find on my laptop.
