Okay here is the deal. window xp home(updrade recently from ME). Adware/trojan caused me to be unable to have any king of internet access. I cleaned the machine(AVG,Mcaffee, adaware). I ran lspfix with shows no problems. I reset the Internet protocol(tcp/ip) and still nothing.
Network Diagnostics sho
local IP is showing 169.254.3.4
IP subnet is 255.255.0.0
DDHCP server is 255.255.255.255 which it says is invali
DNS enables for WINResolution=fals
supposedly if local addres and ip subnet are what is listed above, no DHCP server was found and therefore
this configuration has no default gateway for the interface.
What does this mean??? Is this my problem?

also I have a linksys router and my other computer is working online just fin

Try opening network places...then network connections...right click
your connection and from the menu choose repair.

Ricky, thanks for the advice. I should have said that I already did that. I gives me an error message saying that repair faile
because it could not renew the IP address. I do not know what that means. It says to cotact network admin or isp provider
The my other compuyter is on line with no problems.
