no icons

Just loaded win xp all went well until last reboot when
desktop came up no icons any Ideas would be appreciated

The only icon I normally have is the recycle bin bottom right at initial
start up, do you not even have that?

Being in the UK it's not that big a date for me..................... But you
enjoy it to the full :)
