No hyperlink after pressing space bar

I'm using Word as my editor and when pasting hyperlinks in to a message
(either new, forward or reply) and pressing the space bar or hiting enter, a
hyperlink is not happening automatically. It just pastes the text. It works
fine if I select plain or rich text and it works fine in Word itself, just
not in an email message.

I've checked all the settings I can think of and even compared them with
another machine where it works fine but cannot seem to figure this one out.
Any ideas?

Where are you copying the hyperlink from? Outlook version?

It doesn't seem to matter where I copy the link from (address bar in IE, web
page, Word doc, etc.) still has the same affect. I'm using Outlook 2003.
