No "Hibernate Tab" in power option window..

I am using XP SP2 in my laptop.. I dont get any hibernation tab in the
power options widow...
Also the "STANDBY" option is grayed out in the shutdown menu..

i dont know how to get it back..

And when ever i type in "ipconfig" in command prompt it says
unrecognised command and something about "batch file"

please guide me through it..

You may be able to get more info from the Event viewer.

Many times when your hardware doesn't comply with Windows requirements,
hibernation and standby are disabled. Unless you have brand-new
state-of-the-art equipment, this is probably what's happening. Or, if you
had these functions before and didn't change the hardware, and suddenly the
functions are gone, then it is a problem with Windows.
