recently all of my fonts have been deleted and i have to download and
reinstall them everytime the pc boots. i am planning on buying another hard
drive tomorrow and was wondering because i have the WinXp SP2 disc, if i can
just install that and transfer my personal files. or can i do something to
fix the problem besides reformating my current hard drive? any
recommendations and help would gladly be appreciated

I am having the same problem. It began after running a defragmentation.
Does anyone out there have a hand to lend to our mutual sistuation?

Having same issue here! All I have when I boot up is Martlett symbals. I can
reinstall my fonts and I'm good to go until I shut down. My fonts won't stay
installed. System Recovery didn't work either.

Greetings Krysis,
Yes you can fix the problem. Download & Install TweakUI Xp at:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/tweakuixp.html

Open it and scroll down to ’Repair’ open the dropdown box to ’Font
Folder’ and hit repair. That should fix it. Keep Tweak UI on your
computer as it is very handy to have.
Best of luck,
ultra_classic :)

TweakUI didn't work for me but thanks for trying to help me just the same.

I am having the same problems, no TT fonts and will not restore.
I am wondering if any one has a clue what the peoblem is?

I am a technologically challenged person but I finally "fixed" my issue after
2 weeks of searching, begging posting etc. I just started looking at each
font. On one particular one, I noticed that there was a duplicate file with
one exception...One of the duplicates had a bit more of a description in it's
title. I deleted the less descriptive of the two. I had resolved to repair
install XP this weekend so what the heck. I rebooted and everything was back
to normal. That is the ONLY thing I did. I don't know if that had anything to
do with the fix but it is too coincidental to ignore. Perhaps you can pose a
question related to corrupt fonts and if they could have an affect on the
ability to load the rest of them. DOn't give up and good luck!

Greetings Irvin,
Do you have the WIN XP CD? If you do I think they can be installed
from the disk.
I believe you have to:
goto: My Computer> Control Panel>Fonts>File>Install New Fonts
in the Drive drop down box change the C:\ to whatever your CD drive
is..
D:\, E:\ whatever. Be sure to check the little box at the bottom
that says "Copy fonts to fonts folder" then click o.k.

Best of luck,
ultra_classic

Thanks I tried it your way but it didn't work, I had to browse the CD until I
found the fonts then I did a drag and drop to the fonts folder. So far that
is working!
Thanks for the help, your idea got me thinking at least.
