I UPGRADED MY SON'S COMPUTER FROM ME TO XP HOME.THE MODEM
WAS NOT WORKING SO I REBOOTED AND THEN NOTHING WOULD WORK
EXCEPT THE FLOPPY.THE CD-ROM DRIVER WAS DELETED,THE HARD
DRIVE DRIVER WAS DELETED.NOW I CAN NOT EVEN BOOT UP THE
COMPUTER.I CAN GET TO SETTINGS AND IT SAYS NO HARD DRIVE
INSTALLED AND NO CD-ROM INSTALLED.IT KEEPS SAYING INSERT
BOOTABLE MEDIA.HOW CAN I FIND A FLOPPY THAT WILL BOOT UP
MY SON'S COMPUTER AND INSTALL THE CD-ROM DRIVER AT THE
SAME TIME ?I HAVE THE DRIVER UPGRADE FOR THE HARD DRIVE
AND MODEM,BUT THEY ARE BOTH ON CD'S.CAN SOMEONE PLEASE

You may have inadvertently destroyed everything. Sounds
like you may have corrupted the boot sector. You may
just have to format the drive and start from scratch.

Whenever upgrading an OS from 9x family to NT based OS,
it's better to start with a clean install. If you try to
upgrade instead of doing a clean install, you can have
many, many problems, case in point. Hopefully, you
backed up any important data, which is another smart
thing to do when upgrading your OS.

If the bios is reporting that you don't have a cd or hard drive, it's not a
driver issue, it's a hardware issue. You don't need drivers for the bios to
see the hard drive or cd or floppy. It could be something as simple as a bad
cable, or it could be a motherboard problem.

BTW, posting in all caps is akin to shouting and will get you far fewer
responses. Besides, it's hard to read.

Please do not post in all CAPS as it gives the impression you're
shouting and is hard to read.

The XP CD Rom is bootable. Just go into your system BIOS and set the
boot sequence to boot from CD first. Put the CD in the tray and
follow instructions during the install. You need no other drivers to
install assuming your machine can boot from the CD.
