No domain logon after changing domain NIC

G

Geoff Gorham

Hi guys, have an odd one for you.. I have just changed the
network card in my domain server (single Win2k server
acting primarily as a file server) from a 100mbit to a
1Gbit. I can access the internet and other resources from
the server, but cannot log clients in to the server. The
card connects as 1Gbit to a switch and everything seems
OK, just no logon.. gives error message from
client "Unable to log in at this time as (domain name) is
unavailable" (or similar)
Any ideas??????

What type of nic is this? We have seen issues like this in some of the
Broadcom nics. Are you logging a 5719 in the event log?

If so, then you probably need to modify some of the nic settings and update
the nic drivers.

Another might be to try the following.
