No domain Controller Avaliable

Lance

Greetings!

I have an AD with two controllers. One is running
Exchange 2K. They are both Global Catalogs for the AD.
When a user logs on and is told their password is or will
expire, and they attempt to change that password, they
receive the message "No domain controller is avaliable".
Any ideas on this, kind of strange.

Thanks, Happy Holidays!

That is correct. From DC1 I have name resolution to DC2
and DC2 to DC1 so I believe DNS is working properly. We
had a server crash (Exchange Svr) and had to rebuild it
completely. Since then things have been a little "off"
Could there be a reference to the old Exchange server
(same name and IP) that is corrupted?

Hi Lance,

- I suggest DNS setting for your client should be:
DNS1 = DC1's IP
DNS2 = DC2's IP
- For the Exchange 2000 server, the DNS should be the same as above !!
- I would not think a reference to the old-crashed exchange server
- Did you do this for your exchange server:
- reset exchange server's computer account name
- reinstall OS, SPs, Exchange apps with SP as using /disasterrecovery
If you do like that, I would not think a bit problem with it
- Just make sure the DNS settings on the Exchange, client are correct !!
Regards,
J.H
