No disc in drive E:/

why cant i read my dvd's i keep getting the above message when i know there
is a dvd in it. it can read and play cd's no problem
I have uninstalled and reinstalled power dvd and no change

Hi,

Looks like its time to get a new drive. I had a similar
problem and it turned out that the drive had developed a
fault and needed to be replaced. Good luck.

Perhaps a redundant question.... but is your drive designed to read
and play both CDs and DVDs? If it's a valid DVD drive, then go to
device manager and select remove drive, reboot, and let XP detect the
drive again. If it still is not recognized as a DVD drive (can't read
and play DVDs), the drive may be defective.
