No Default Action for Double Click on Mapped Network Drvie

I have an XP Home SP2 Sharing a subdirectory, and an XP Pro SP2 connected to
it in a workgroup, with a mapped drive.

The Client can read and write to the 'servers' drive fine and browse from
within an application's open/save applet.

However the default action for double clicking on the mapped drive or a
shortcut there of prompts for an application with which to carry out the
autoplay action. Even when the windows explorer is selected as the
application to use, the option to make this default is greyed out.

The user on the client is an administrator on the client.
Do I have to make them a user on the 'server' also? Or is there a reg edit
to sort this out.

Check the folder for a file that should not be there - perhaps an
autorun.inf file that's causing the folder to be "executed" instead of
"opened".

Thanks for that - there was an autorun.inf in the root of the shared
directory. I deleted it but unfortunately the problem still persists.

Check for and remove or rename any other suspicious files (anything that has
autorun in it, and for troubleshooting purposes any .BAT or .CMD files) and
see if that helps. It sounds as if someone copied an entire CD to a folder
or unpacked a ZIP/ISO file with AUTORUN properties, which is likely to cause
this sort of problem.
