I'm also having this issue. For me windows explorer crashes whenever I try to
open an Explorer Window(including control panel). I was wondering if the
problem had to do with me runing 32 bit Vista on an AMD64 X2. Would
appreciate a moderators reply as soon as possible.

Um, there are no moderators, this is a peer group.

No it is not due to the fact that you are running 32bit on an AMD 64 X2

I, too, am hving problems with the control panel. When I hover on it from
the Start menu, it will not launch and crash. It will run from Safe Mode,
but I'm assuming what ever is causing the crash is not loading. I'm to the
point of considering going back to XP, but hanging in for now.

It looks like there`s more people with this problem.
I tryed to upgrade my videocard drivers but that didn`t work either.

I installed last night, and I have a similar problem. Explorer windows won't
open (including, most annoyingly, control panel), can't access any
personalization settings so my desktop's stuck at a crappy resolution with a
crappy colour scheme. Updated graphics drivers didn't help. Has anyone
managed to correct this yet?

I too have this problem. I now get a message saying it is fixed in windows
vista customer preview release.

It would be nice if they said what the problem was.

I have that same problem and it told me about the Microsoft Vista Customer
Technology Preview release so I guess we should all wait.

Ok i have the same problem but somehow my CP came back...

in my computer it was SOUNDMAX INTEGRATED DIGITAL AUDIO that broke it. When
i installed the Windows Vista compatibility Driver, CP got broken...

then i found another web page with a driver for my soundcard and when i
installed it, CP was BACK!:...

but now my problem is, that with the new driver, my microphone isnt working
