no boot

Runninbg xp pro but system will not boot.Machine starts (fan running, floppy
drive whiring) but no boot.Getting 1 long and 2 short beeps & just a blank
screen,managed to get it to boot once but not again.The only thing i did
before this prob was install adaware
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Does it post information just after you turn it on? The beeps may be a
motherboard warning system indicating of hardware not funtioning properly.
