No BIOS update? Options?

What are my options if there is no update for my BIOS,
and I'm gettting this at startup???

Is there a tweak/fix, or should I just be happy with a
long start-up time??

Thank you!

MG

ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an
illegal IO port address (%3), which lies in the %4
protected address range. This could lead to system
instability. Please contact your system vendor for
technical assistance.

Hi,

Probably aren't any options other than upgrading the system itself. Have you
tried contacting the motherboard manufacturer directly?

Rick...,

I have located a few "like 4" update options via the
link/s below, but don't know which one to d/l and
run/install..??... Also don't wish to royally screw
things up by trying one...

Suggestions please, Rick...? Thanks Man!

I think someone else posted the same question recently either on this news
group or another I subscribe to. Perhaps it was you?. Anyway I recall one of
the replies suggested turning off ACPI somehow as a possible alternative.

whatever you do don't flash your bios with some thing you
found on the web!
you could completly wipe out the bios, requiring the
board be returned to the manufacture for reprograming!

One possibility is to repair install the system, leaving out ACPI (it
will not be greatly missed). Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard disk,
then boot the XP CD, start Setup (do not take `Repair` at this stage),
then after the license agreement take `Repair Installation`. This will
retain your existing software installations and most settings. But
Updates will have to be run again, especially SP1; It is important to
activate the basic XP Firewall before you ever connect to the net to
get the patches, so as to be protected against things like the BLAST
worm.

At the first reboot, change the boot order back to Hard disk first. You
will then get a black screen with a white bar - `Hit F6 to install
special. . . `. Hit F7 instead; nothing will appear to happen, but the
system will install without ACPI. Only thing you would then need is to
go to Power Options - APM and Enable APM so as to support Power off at
shutdown

Always back up essential data before doing any major system operation
like this, if you are still in a position to do so

Why don't you do as the message suggests and contact the vendor?
