My computer keeps freezing for no reason whenever I'm scrolling throght a menu. And sometimes it freezes for no reason at anytime. I checked my event view and it gave me this message

Details
Product: Windows Operating System (XP HOME)
ID: 4
Source: ACPI
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: ACPI_ERR_AMLI_ILLEGAL_IO_READ_FATAL
Message: %2: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (%3), which lies in the %4 protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

Explanation
The system BIOS attempted to incorrectly access hardware resources concurrently with the operating system. This type of access cannot be synchronized and can cause system instability.

User Action
Contact the system vendor for an updated BIOS and follow the vendor's instructions for installation.

I'v looked for a new BIOS for my Compaq Presario 5000 but there isn't one available to download of the internet and I've searched a long time. If I could get some help or suggestion about how solve this big problem any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jason,

Then you're stuck. Either an update exists or it doesn't. Your system
manufacturer has chosen not to provide an upgraded BIOS that properly
supports WinXP's power management. This could be because they have no reason
to (no profit in it), or because the hardware cannot be made to support it.
