No audio in imported video

I connect my Samsung SCD6040 to my PC using USB 2.0 port. In the video
capture wizard, in avalaible device, I select "Samsung camcorder USB-D05
capture driver" then in audio device, I leave "Avance AC97 Audio" and in
audio input source, I leave microphone. Then at the end, my video is imported
but I hear no sound. Is it because my DV camera is not connected to an IEEE
1394 port ? (it is connected to a USB port).

No, I don't have one, there is no audio output on my digital camcorder. But
what is funny is that when I used the Samsung software "DVC media 5.1" and I
connect my camcorder to the PC with USB cable it works, I can hear the sound
on the imported video.
Also in MSN Messenger, I have the same problem, I can play a DV tape and
click on webcam, so contact on my sn messenger can see my tape but can't
hear anything.

The samsung software is designed for capturing via usb, so if it works use
it.
Most cams have an analogue audio and video output, so you can connect the
cam to the tv and watch and listen to it, you'll need to use this if the
sound card is being used as the audio input device.
Otherwise, use firewire.
