Have you tried reinstalling your soundcard drivers?

How would i go about doing that?
To reinstall your soundcard drivers:

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html - Belarc Advisor
http://www.aumha.org/free.htm - Aida32 (hosted on Jim Eshelman's site)

But frankly, I think it is significant that everything worked until you
physically moved the machine. Moving the machine certainly wouldn't "shake
the drivers out"! ;-) I would first shut the machine off, unplug it, and
open the case. Reseat all the cards and connections so everything is snug.
Now see if it works.

Hi Josh,
Did you ever get this fixed? I have a similar problem. I just bought an
eMachines T3504. I partitioned the 100GB HD and loaded in a Windows Setup CD.
I didn't have drivers for PCI Device, PCI Simple Communications Controller,
SM Bus Controller, and Video Controller (VGA compatible.) Also I had no audio
device. When I partioned the HD I erased the drivers. I talked to Emachines
chat and first they sent me to Intel to get the drivers for the board. That
fixed the SM Bus Controller. Then they sent me to ATI for more drivers. That
fixed the Video Controller (VGA compatible.) I am still without sound and
missing drivers for PCI Device and PCI Simple Communications Controller after
3 days of trying. I have no idea what Device Manager is looking for when I
tell it to updae the driver. It won't even look at .SYS files. I realize that
it was pretty dumb not saving off the drivers before formatting the HD but I
would guess there are enough dumb people around that it would be a common
problem. I can't imagine why they don't have a set of drivers for customers
to download. If you found a place to get the drivers or somehow fix the sound
problem, I would appreciate knowing about it. One of the responents said to
do an inventory. I plan to try that but don't know how it helps.
Thanx for any help
Don McKee
