Which is exactly what I did. I (not really me but a techie) recently
installed a new motherboard on my system which worked beautifully for a
while. Then I tinkered with the 'registry' apparently due to system
restorations caused by a virus. After debuggings and when my computer stopped
playing up, I lost the sound. Altering the registry I was told failed to put
the sound back. Following Sengupta's advice I reinstalled my motherboard
drivers which good old Windows XP finally recognised my audio driver (Realtek
97) and presto, those lovely Windows sounds are back! Thanks heaps, Sengi

I am able to play sound on my computer. However, when i go to control panel,
then sounds and audio devices, then volume, it says No Audio Device....I
cannot adjust the speaker volume, or the sound strength from there...any
advice or solution to this problem?
