No Audio device is found

hi i have a windows xp professional version, i rectently formatted my
harddisc and reinstalled windows xp Pro. i have nforce2 audio which is not
working after the format. i have installed the drivers and in device manager
it shows that the device is working properly (nfroce 2 audio codec) but there
is no device. even the nfroce 2 sound manage say "failed to initilize the
audio driver" i have installed it thrice after removing it. but nothing has
helped
Please Help Me.

Perhaps the card is not completely in the slot. Try to make sure it is
completely in the slot.

Don, that's an on-board sound chip, not a sound card. it doesn't /have/ a
slot! ;o)

I guess that shows the extent of my knowledge of hardware matters. My
brother builds all my systems. My fingers always feel like sausages when I
poke around inside the cases and I have poor eye-sight in tight, dark
places such as the insides of computers.

Sounds like the drivers are not actually installed properly. Try, from
Device Manager, removing them and allowing the system to re-detect them.
Be sure you have the *correct* drivers for the hardware.

What was Aida32, and is now Everest, can be of enormous assistance with this
kind of problem.

Download and install Everest, and run it. Look carefully at what the audio
hardware is detected as, and search Google for new drivers if needed.
