nltest problem

Hi,

does anyone know why
nltest /sc_query:domain2

returns

I_NetLogonControl failed:Status=1355 0x54b ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN

where domain2 is a child domain that quite obviously exists as I've
got a bunch of users logged into it and it's been functioning for ages
and I'm running that command on the second of 2 DCs for that domain!

Any ideas please?

ty.

Hello (e-mail address removed),

Thank you for choosing Microsoft and for using our Newsgroups. I have
reviewed the information you have provided this far. My understanding of
the issue is the following:

You receive the following error with nltest: DsGetDcName failed: Status =
1355 0x54b ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN

CAUSE
=====

When you use the Windows 2000 support tool Nltest.exe to try to find the
global catalog for a domain by specifying a NetBIOS name instead of the
DNS name.

RESOLUTION:
============

To work around this problem, use the DNS domain name instead of the
NetBIOS domain name or use the correct domain name in the Nltest.exe
command. The "NLTEST /dsgetdc:example.com /gc" (without the quotation
arks) command returns the correct response.

More information on this may be found in our public knowledgebase article:

Global

Hi thanks for the response.

Even using the DNS name i still get the same error message.

nltest /sc_query:domain2.domain1.com

gives me the exact same error message.

Any further ideas please?

Thanks.
