NIC PROBLEM

I have 4 computers in a peer to peer all running windows XP Professional.

one of the computers however seems to have a problem connecting to the
network. 1 i switched the cable , and i chengedt to a different port on the
switch - this did not resolve the issue and then thought windows might be
corrupt - still that did not resolve the issue.because i did a complete
reformat and reinstall of windows

when i type in ipconfig - i get 0.0.0.0. and cannot ping the other computers

so i took the computer home thinking that it was the nic card - hooked it up
to my router and it worked fine could access my lan and i got connection to
the internet

i am am flumaxed as its not hardware issue apparently and not software ? a
work gremlin maybe ?

Does the network at work have a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses?
If not, you need to assign a static IP address to your computer.

What does ipconfig show on the other computers at work?
