Newsletter #13 is well underway.... IrfanView is a great free (for personal
use) image utility, and I'm exploring some of the things you can do if you
only had it and Movie Maker to work with.

In the mini-tutorial, I use IrfanView to extract all of the frames from a
standard aspect ratio 4:3 clip, crop them to focus more on the area of
interest, crop/resize them to make them just right for a widescreen 16:9
movie, and add my website URL as a text overlay (positioned exactly where I
want it).

MM1 and 2 of course do the rest.

As I finish up this week's newsletter.... here's links to the 'before' and
'after' clips I made for the mini-tutorial in it:

The starting clip (Before) is standard aspect ration 4:3 as taken from the
camcorder.... the After clip is widescreen 16:9, converted to widescreen and
with some finishing touches, using Movie Maker and IrfanView to assist.

The clips run for 49 seconds and are about 4 MB each in file size.

Forgive the basic low quality level.... it was after sunset, the boats were
a mile away, and I was using part of the digital zoom of the camcorder. But
it's sufficient to get the point across about doing such a conversion
exercise.
