Thanks..This seems the to go with.I have registred and currently
awaiting registartion status.Would you know how to configure
gravity to use this service?

Gravity is a good freeware binary newsreader and less good at pure
text messages. news.individual.net does not support binaries.

You need to define the news server in one of the drop down menus
from the top of the screen and then select the server to configure
it. The details are here:

Signing up with Network Solutions is a bad idea. They are a spammer haven & are
blocked by half the world due to the proliferation of spam eminating from their
sites.

Although you may not have much choice in news servers, just be careful.

When using a reliable lookup site such as http://www.dnsstuff.com/ , this is
what you'll see:

Unfortunately, this domain is registered through Network Solutions, the worst
registrar (as far as WHOIS is concerned).
They do not support WHOIS lookups from ad-free sites like ours (because of the
volume of hits from us), and try to force users of our site to use their
ad-laden site.

If you don't like this policy, please send an E-mail to
(e-mail address removed) or call 1-888-642-9675 and let them know it you
don't like it! Alternatively, you can file a complaint with Internic.

If this is your domain, please consider using a more reasonable registrar.

I block on sight ALL traffic from network solutions & their affiliates :) as
does the rest of the non-spamming world :)

You could sign up for the free ISP nyx.net (nyx.nyx.net). It has a good
news feed, and several test-based news readers (which I find very easy
to use. There's a sign-up procedure, and they'd like a donation. Once
validate, you just telnet in.

It's signing up with individual.net, not with their domain-host.
My ISP has no problem with me posting on usenet using a individual.net-
account, nor did my previous two ISP's. Nor did I ever read or here
anything about ISP's blocking anyone using such an account.

For what ?

My ISP doesn't even know that Usenet exists... so, if someone sent them
an abuse report about someone doing spam on Usenet, most likely it would
go to /dev/null.

I think this is the one that gives a lot of trouble as it's posts don't
thread.

If it is, you could end up being killfiled because it disrupts everybody
elses posts - look in the headers for <references>

Ive just recieved this mail from my ISP....

Newsgroup News
First off, some important information. From the 1st January 2005, UK
Online will no longer be providing a Usenet newsgroup facility. This
means that you=3Fll be unable to to access or post to newsgroups from this
date.

Unfortunately, the number of our customers using newsgroups has declined
over the last few years, making it no longer economic to support these
services. Access to newsgroups are available at a low cost or free of
charge from people like Google Groups and Giganews.
..........................................

In light of this ,what would be my best options for another news server
that i could use?.I use gravity.Would i be able to put another news
server in the server options? , or would the fact that i m using ukonline
as an ISP not permit it.I know i can use google advanced news group
search , but if possible id still like to use gravity.
Any help/suggestions welcome.

My suggestion is:

Change to another ISP.

I use Tiscali and have had no problems.

Thanks for suggestion.I already use tiscali occasionally with a dial up
account (in case of emergencys etc).Apart from the newsgroup termination
,im completly happy with ukonline ,connection ,srvices and customer
support. They even gave me a dsl nat router when i originally signed to
broadband and only wanted the cheaper broadband modem (which was about
£60 less), so all in all they arent that bad.Im now using the individual
..net newserver , so am happy once again
