NNTP Newsgroup reader

xxnonexnonexx

I am looking for a NNTP newsgroup reader.

Agent no longer meets my needs and they have lost their way with V3.0

MUST SUPPORT:
1) MULTIPLE news servers with logins
2) Excellent support for binaries including YENC, and able to deal with split
messages
3) Crosspost filtering INCLUDING BINARIES!
4) ABOVE AVERAGE filtering abilties with FILTERING ON ALL HEADER LINES, ALL BODY
LINES
5) NO SUPPORT for HTML message. HTML is NOT part of UseNet or email
6) Newsgroups will be pulled from all servers and seamlessly merged into one big
group regadless of which server the group may or may not be on
7) Support for profiles to groups for setting outbound server, email address in
headers etc. This is an issue when you use a mail/news gateway and need the real
email address in there. Configurable per group, or global with group over ride.

Any suggestions?

Xananews can do this.
2) Excellent support for binaries including YENC, and able to deal
with split messages

Xananews can do this.
3) Crosspost filtering INCLUDING BINARIES!

I think Xananews can do this.
4) ABOVE AVERAGE filtering abilties with FILTERING ON ALL HEADER
LINES, ALL BODY LINES

Xananews can do this.
5) NO SUPPORT for HTML message. HTML is NOT part of UseNet or email

Xananews can turn this off.
6) Newsgroups will be pulled from all servers and seamlessly merged
into one big group regadless of which server the group may or may not
be on

Xananews can't do this, but batches can be created easily to download
messages from different servers in the push of one button.

7) Support for profiles to groups for setting outbound server,
email address in headers etc. This is an issue when you use a
mail/news gateway and need the real email address in there.
Configurable per group, or global with group over ride.

Xananews can do this.

Richard Steinfeld, 9/10/2005,
How is Xananews different from Xnews?

Richard

In my opinion it is much easier to use. It also has an author who is
still developing it and takes suggestions from users on how to improve
it. The source code is available for you to make your own changes
also. Try it for yourself and find out.
