I'm trying to set up the news reader in Outlook 2003.
You're supposed to be able to add the "News" command by
customizing the menu, selecting the "Go" category and drag
the "News" command to the toolbar...however - when I open
the "Go" category, the News command is not listed...nor
can I find it anywhere. Anybody have an idea as to what's
up?

Thanks in advance,
Dave.

Are you sure if you pull down the list on the right dialog box, that it
doesn't appear? on my machine, it's near the bottom.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Nope...it's not there...nor is it under any of the other
categories! Ideas on how to get it back where it belongs?
Dave.

Sorry, don't have a clue ... Guess this is something that maybe is
solved by a repair install or reinstall. Other than searching more on
http://groups.google.com, I can't think of anything else.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, click the "Don't ask me again" box and then click the No button.
You may need to reset the menu or toolbar using Tools, customize.

Thank you, Diane...worked like a charm. I appreciate you
taking the time to help!

Dave.

I recently installed Outlook 2003 as well and I no longer see any Newsreader
terminology in Outlook. Outlook never did have a newsreader it always just
pointed to the newsreader in Outlook Express. When you now go to Internet
Explorer and select Tools / Internet Options / Programs, you only see
Outlook Express under Newsreader options? In previous versions I believe it
showed Outlook and Outlook Express under here even though it was the same
newsreader. Possibly with Outlook 2003 Microsoft finally decided to not
fool people anymore letting them think that Outlook had a newsreader when it
does not. Just my guess though.
