News command not in go category

Dan

I upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. In the new
Outlook, I tried to go to News and found that I would
have to put the News command into the Go menu. No
problem. I did it and it worked fine.

But then I installed MS Business Contact Mgr. Then when
I hit the News command in the Go menu, instead of going
to the news, I got lists of folders for Business Contact
Mgr. I uninstalled contact mgr, but now the News command
is no longer in the Go menu.

So then I tried putting it back in. Went to Toolbar
options/customize/add buttons and clicked on the Go menu
category. The News command was no longer there. Don't
have a clue where it went.

I ended up uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling. Still
no News command.

I uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled. Still no News
command for me to put in the Go menu.

I'm writing this from the web interface to the MS news
groups since I can't get to it through Outlook. Anybody
have any ideas?

Of course we have ideas. This issue is posted here several times a day.
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.
