<newbie> VPN

Hey

I have a winXP machine at home and also a winXP machine at work. I've heard
I can access the machine at work from my home computer using VPN. For
accessing the work computer I need to use 2 IP addresses. The public IP
address of the company and the IP address of my computer at work...

What program do I use to access my computer? Is it Remote Desktop? If so how
do I set those 2 IP addresses in the Remote Desktop program?

Yes, you can use Remote Desktop to access your office PC
from home, but only if your office PC runs Windows XP
Professional.

Since there are a few things that must be configured at your
office installation for a VPN or a Remote Desktop connection,
it would be best for you to talk to your network administrator.

Erm, isn't it the other way around? XP Home can receive remote access
requests but cannot initiate them.

Nope. Any Windows machine can run mstsc.exe (the "Remote Desktop
Client"), even a Win9x machine. However, it takes at least a WinXP
Professional machine to act as a Remote Desktop host. Give it a try!
