Newbie question re booting...

Jim Beggs

What I need to do is boot Windows XPe on a set top box.
The boot needs to do the following...

1. Display only our branded screen during boot.

2. Immediately display a full screen browser after
booting, which will be used to show our menu options etc
for the box.

3. There should be no indication that a Windows OS is
running.

How do I do these things with XPe?

I am not using Windows CE as I need the extensive device
driver support in XPe.

Any help appreciated.

1. Display only our branded screen during boot.

You can disable the XPe Boot screen, you end you with a load bar and black
screen. I'm not sure what's legal and what's not as regards displaying your
own logos
2. Immediately display a full screen browser after
booting, which will be used to show our menu options etc
for the box.

Shouldn't be problem as far as I'm aware, there is a few ways this could be
implemented.
3. There should be no indication that a Windows OS is
running.

Should be possiable, you could lauch IE in kiosk mode

Thanks Wayne.

I am aware of the 'hacks' that I could use to partially
do this, but surely there is a complete & elegant way.

Other devices that run either CE or XPe do it, eg. there
are other set top boxes out there running windows that
display a blank screen etc while booting and then simply
display a menu screen.

Any help appreciated!

I believe that I answered the offical way of doing this in TD, which is the
same as what Slobodan suggests
