new xp- no printers work

thought my printer (espon c40ux) was bust when i got my new dell last
week, now got a new c44ux which doesnt work too, also just bought a
new usb cable just in case that was causing the prob, to no avail

error message- printer connection could not be confirmed- check
connection then hit retry.....

does it think it cable printer instaed of usb cable printer or
something- or is epson not compat with XP home ed.

please help!!!

How are you installing a printer,at shut-down connect printer,start computer
on desktop the,"found new hardware" wizard should start,also saying"insert c
if hardware came with one",insert cd,give it 3-4 seconds,then click,next.Window
auto gets the software/drivers program started,the rest is self explainatory.The onl
problems you could/should have is if another printer was installed before,delete th
software,or a printer was connected to the computer during xp installation,if so usein
the old 25 pin cable might help the printer being recognized by xp.
