NEW XP INSTALLATION

Hi all, can any of you clever people help? I have a computer with 2
hard drives. Drive 2 is used to store photos and videos and data.
Having just formatted drive 1 and re installed my copy of xp, the
computer recognises drive 2, but now won't read it and says it needs
formatting. How can I get access to all my old stuff on disk 2?
 
did you make sure you install xp to drive 1.
one best way is to just unplug the power cable to drive 2 so you know you
won't lose the data on it.

that way you can get drive 1 working fine then once everything is up and
running just plug the plug connector into drive 2 when done.

yes, I physically removed drive 2 during fresh install but when I
reconnected, I get the problem above - STILL STUCK. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
