New XP installation with Maxtor 160GB ATA serial drive

I have a Gigabyte 7NNXP M/B with a ATA serial drive (the
drive is blank). I am trying to install XP, but it does
not recognize the drive (but of course the BIOS does). I
have a one CD and Floppy drive. How can I get XP to
recognize the Maxtor drive for the installation?

Windows XP only has knowledge of standard IDE Ports. With your
controller/motherboard, you should have a disk for XP drivers for the SerialATA
controller. You will need to press F6 during installation to specify another
storage device, and insert the floppy disk and select from the list what you
have.

If you don't have a floppy disk with it but a cd-rom, more than likely it's on
the cd-rom. Check your manual for WindowsXP installations....
